housing for a frolic?

topic posted Sat, December 15, 2007 - 9:03 PM by  Dzeli
Hi there. I live about 2.5 hours northwest of Kingston. I lived in San Francisco for 5 years and love Barefoot Boogie and Contact Improv, which were readily available out there.
I'd love to come to a Freestyle Frolic, but with my 2 year old son, I can't see myself driving 5 hours in one day.
Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Kingston or do you have some kind of housing set up for guests?
Much thanks, love and light!

Well, I think for our house or many other folks it would depend on the weekend. I and my partner are out of town 2 out of 3 weekends.

My suggestion Dzeli would be to pick a Frolic date long enough in advance that we could announce your desire at the circle of the one before and also post it to the private e-list for core frolic volunteers.

In the meantime why don't Hrana and I "friend" and you could message us directly when you have adate as well as posting to this tribe.

Contact improv occurs in spurts depending on the night at the frolic. The mood of the floor can have 3/4 of the room in contact mode for half the night or virtually none at all. It might be good to both make contact with both interested dancer friends and the DJ's representing beforehand. I know as a DJ I respond to the floor and not individual requests and I have left a few contacters disappointed on nights when the floor is clearly voting for rhythms that lend themselves to other forms of dance.

We are a great dance though and we'd love to dance with you. Hope you make it to Kingston.

      Thanks so much!
Currently, a good friend is moving to your area, so hopefully in the spring I will visit her and we will all come and join you.
      Much thanks for your responses!

Also, if you come to a frolic and announce at the circle that you need housing for the night, someone will step up. there's lots of good people with couch, floorspace or even luxurious beds! :)

or put a note on here the week before... frolickers are very in-the-moment people

that's the least embarrassing way to admit that I've got ADD that I've heard all day.

hehe! yeah, we're sort of like a beehive buzzing with creativity and friendliness, but just try to catch one of us! :) at least we'll do a little dance to show you where we found the flowers... or something... :)
